New Deck Build
Evergreen Deck Builders builds new decks to a standard most contractors simply don’t meet. While many deck builders follow minimum code requirements, we go well beyond them to ensure long-term strength and performance in Michigan’s harsh climate. Our footings are dug to 48 inches, exceeding the 42-inch state minimum to protect against frost movement caused by freeze–thaw cycles—an upgrade most competitors skip.

We construct every deck using 6x6 structural posts, not the weaker 4x4 posts commonly used by other builders. Each post is protected with RotBloc at ground level to guard against moisture and soil-borne decay—an added layer of protection rarely used in residential deck construction. Our framing system is built with joists spaced 12 inches on center and sealed with joist tape, while most competitors space joists at 16 inches and leave them unprotected, significantly shortening the life of the deck.

To protect your investment, we apply joist tape to all framing members—an upgrade many contractors skip—to prevent moisture intrusion and extend the life of the structure.
